The winners of the Omniture Web Analytics Competition were recently announced. The first-place prize of $5,000 was awarded to David Woolsey, Chris Haleua and Tucker Christiansen. The $2,000 second-place prize was awarded to Bryant Hoopes and the $1000 third place prize was awarded to the team of Rob Nelson and Doug Burnett. Along with the cash prize, all of the winners were given the opportunity to interview for a job with Omniture.
The competition involved students using Omniture's industry-leading SiteCatalyst product to help a real online business, backcountryoutlet.com, maximize their e-business success. Omniture provided training for the participating students on SiteCatalyst, so no previous experience was required to compete. Students in all fields of study were encouraged to participate.
Over forty teams participated in the competition by presenting an analysis and recommendation for business optimization to a panel of judges during a professional presentation. Look for the next web analytics competition in the 2008 Fall semester.
